Marriott International ANZP is proud to support UN Women Australia as the chosen charity for 2024-2025, with a commitment to advancing gender equality throughout Australia and the Pacific.

In the Pacific region, women make up 75% to 90% of market vendors, often enduring long hours, low profits, and challenging conditions. Many travel from rural areas and sleep at markets for days, leaving them vulnerable to violence and theft.

UN Women’s Markets for Change project is crucial in protecting these women vendors in Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu by creating safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory marketplaces. Your donations will directly contribute to providing essential furnishings for market centres, ensuring these women have a comfortable and secure environment to work in.

This project has not only enhanced market safety but also increased sales and empowered women by boosting their leadership, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship skills. Your support will help reduce risks, strengthen women’s economic roles, and contribute to poverty reduction in these communities.

The funds raised will go towards providing essential resources such as secure sleeping quarters, clean water facilities, and improved market infrastructure, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for women market vendors. Additionally, the funds will support educational programs that enhance women’s leadership and entrepreneurial skills, empowering them to take control of their economic futures.
