Trekking up and out in 2025 with UN Women Australia!

In 2023 I was delighted to meet the CEO of UN Women Australia, Simone Clarke, where I had the opportunity to learn about UN Women’s mission and hear some of the important work they do here in OZ. I was deeply impressed by Simone and her team’s commitment and tenacity to drive this mission to give women a greater voice and respect.
Having a teen daughter who is the light of my life and the reason why I have, and continue to make, so many life choices, I felt compelled to do more for other mothers and daughters who don’t have the basic privileges and options we have in education, health, safety, financial freedom and dignity. I wanted to show my daughter how we can make a difference when we so choose.
With her finishing her final year of school and set to travel the world, it’s time for me to step up.
And so, I will be trekking up and out in March 2025. Upon invitation from Simone, I’m off to trek to New Zealand’s magnificent south-island, from Christchurch to Queenstown, with a cohort of fifteen terrific women in UN Women Australia’s Trek for Rights 2025. Awesome huh?!
There are 614 million+ women and girls living in conflict affected areas today.
From Palestine to Ukraine, Haiti, Sudan, and Afghanistan, their numbers are rapidly increasing as geopolitical conflicts, climate change, health and food crises intensify.
I'm taking part in Trek for Rights 2025 to raise vital funds to help support the efforts of UN Women in partnership with local women’s organisations to provide critical services, hope and a lifeline to women and girls in war-torn countries and communities affected by natural disasters.
